Just living is not enough … one must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. Hans Christian Andersen
And so to Summer. The best days are ahead of us. After what feels like weeks of rain, the sun is back and the garden is lush.
The first, shy flowers of Spring have been replaced by brazen, showy counterparts, unashamed by their bright colours and plentiful nectar. The garden is humming with the sound of insects. There is salad aplenty and more vege on the way. Foliage has shifted from the yellow-greens of youth to the deep rich tones of maturity. It’s tempting to kick back and just watch them grow.
And why not? There’s still more than enough to do, but why not take a moment on a sunny day to stop and enjoy the crescendo of the year as it approaches…?
